Itinerary

The following is the itinerary for the MBCC Senior Choir's 2005 Spain/France Tour, 25 June to 12 July 2005. As we traveled, I added links to pages of an online journal describing each day's adventures. Contact information for hotels at which we stayed is included in this list in the entry for the day we first arrive in each city where we'll be staying overnight. Monday, 27 June: Guided tour of Barcelona, including the Palau de la Música Catalana; evening concert at the Barcelona Cathedral.

Tuesday, 28 June: Day trip to Montserrat, where we will sing for the pilgrims at the Montserrat Monastery; afternoon free to explore Barcelona.

Thursday, 30 June: Tour of Old Quarter of Toulouse, with informal concert at Les Jacobins Church; afternoon free to explore the city.

Friday, 1 July: Tour of and informal concert at St. Pierre Abbey in Moissac; visit Roman and medieval walled city of Cahors; continue to Sarlat. Saturday, 2 July: Day trip to Rocamadour, where we sing during mass at St. Saveur Basilica; travel to La Roque-Gageac, and board a boat for a cruise down the Dordogne River before returning to Sarlat.

Sunday, 3 July: Day trip to prehistoric cave of Rouffignac; formal concert at St. Sulpice Church in Le Bugue followed by reception.

Monday, 4 July: Visit St. Emilion; continue to Cognac, with tour of Martell distillery; continue to Poitiers. Thursday, 7 July: Day trip to Château of Chenonçeau, Amboise, and Onzain, with a reception and formal concert at Onzain.

Friday, 8 July: Travel to Paris, stopping at Chartres along the way, with informal concert at Chartres Cathedral. Saturday, 9 July: Guided sightseeing tour of Paris, guided tours of Notre Dame Cathedral (with rehearsal for tomorrow!) and Sainte Chapelle Church.

Sunday, 10 July: Sing during morning mass at Notre Dame Cathedral; guided tour of Opera Garnier in afternoon; farewell dinner at Les Noces de Jeannette Restaurant; evening cruise through the City of Lights.

Monday, 11 July: Full day to tour and explore Paris; optional night at the opera.

Tuesday, 12 July: Fly from Paris to Los Angeles on Air France Flight #72.
